Madagascar Movie Premiere - Puppets Axtell
DreamWorks commissioned Axtell Expressions to build premiere puppets for the hit animated feature film – “Madagascar”.

Dreamworks is the film production company founded by Steven Speilberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen.
Creating a puppet of Melman the Giraffe was a challenge because his head is too narrow for a hand, his mouth was too far away for direct control, and his neck too long for an arm. Our solution was to build an internal hand operated mouth extension and to have the operator’s hand enter directly behind the head, and have the neck wrap around their shoulders.
